Responsibilities:

Before starting vessel operations, obtain a copy of the manifest summary from the vessel foreman.

When cargo markings are detected, alert the vessel foreman and make sure the agent has given permission before releasing the cargo.

Make a “load tally sheet” and count the total amount of cargo being loaded onto the vessel. Keep a close eye on every action made when loading or unloading bags of material.

When making a direct delivery, exchange tally sheets with the agent’s tally clerk, who is typically present.

After finishing each sheet, swap receive/load tally sheets with the agent’s tally sheets. In order to handle gate passes, the agent needs to create and submit p/p tally sheets to the shed office.

If the agent has not sent out any tally clerks, note on the tally sheet that there is “No agent representative available.”

Find out exactly why there are errors and delays during vessel operations by speaking with the vessel foreman. Make a note of these particulars on the “Fault and Delay sheet,” along with how long the delay lasted.

After vessel operations, get the agent representative to acknowledge receipt of the fault and delay sheet. Then, send the paperwork to the Shed Documentation Clerk.
